Irish Coast Guard Visit

The pupils in Bellurgan N.S. were very lucky to get a visit from the local coastguard. James Larkin and George Campbell called to the school to tell us all about water safety. They told us that we should call 999 or 112 if we are in or witness an emergency in the water. They also rescue people stuck in the mountains using their brand new coastguard helicopter. James demonstrated how to use life jackets and life rings and warned us to be very careful diving into water as it may be shallower than it looks! We were able to answer lots of their questions and we were rewarded with emergency contact bracelets. Thanks James and George for visiting us and for all the great work you do with the coastguard!

Congratulations to Rang 5 Pupil Simon Toner McCauley who won the Art Competition. He received a pack from the Irish Coastguards.
