About us

Dermot McCoy
Bellurgan National School is situated along the scenic Cooley Peninsula in the Parish of Lordship and Ballymascanlon, Dundalk, County Louth.  Our School moved to its present location and building in 1980 and it is currently a nine teacher school with an enrolment of 124 pupils.  We have two ASD classes and five mainstream classes in the school.

We are a Co-Educational, Catholic, Primary School, which strives to provide a well-ordered, caring, happy and secure atmosphere where the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of the pupils are identified and addressed.  As an Inclusive School Community, we endeavour to help each child reach his or her potential, all are equally valued and respected and a positive, friendly atmosphere is maintained.

Our School will constantly strive to maintain a child-centred Catholic Ethos, where parents are active partners in the education of their children, where staff provide a stimulating learning environment, where the church supports and assist in the development of our pupils and where the community continues to support the aims and values of the school.

As a school we aim to deliver for your child a broad and balanced curriculum. We wish to create a love of learning, a knowledge of how to learn and the motivation to produce his / her best work.  It is also important to us that our pupils gain a knowledge and understanding of our own heritage and the wider world which we live.
