Death Of Bishop Clifford

The Bellurgan National School Community is saddened to hear of the passing of Bishop Gerard Clifford. A native of our Parish, he was educated at Bellurgan National School in the 1940s and early 1950s. Over his years as Bishop he regularly returned to Celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Parish, never forgetting his roots. A humble and holy man who will be solely missed.
He passed away peacefully on Monday at Highfield Healthcare in Whitehall in Dublin and our Board of Managment, Pupils and Staff would like to pass on our condolences to his sister Rose, brother Christopher, sister-in-law Phyllis, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces, Archbishop Eamon Martin, Cardinal Brady, the people, religious and clergy of the Archdiocese of Armagh.
Our School will be represented by Mr McCoy and a number of Senior pupils at Thursday’s funeral which takes place at 12 noon in St Patrick’s Church Dundalk. We will also be performing a Guard of Honour at Calvary Cemetery.
