Heart Children Ireland Fundraiser

Each year, we encourage the senior pupils in our school, in Rang 5 & 6, to organise an event which will raise funds for the many important charities that exist in our society. Last year our pupils raised a total of E300 through a brown money collection which was divided evenly between Trocaire and St Vincent de Paul. This year our pupils decided to support Heart Children Ireland, a charity which has a link with our past pupil Aisling Sharkey.

Heart Children Ireland is a support group for parents and families of children with a Congenital Heart Disorder. CHD is the most common of all birth defects affecting one in every one hundred children born at present. About half of all babies born with CHD will require heart operations.

Our pupils organised a Non-Uniform Day on Friday 14th February to raise funds and in return each pupil received a little windmill. Our pupils appreciate your support of this very worthwhile charity.
