Who’s going to have the tallest sunflower on the Cooley peninsula?

The children in 1st and 2nd class have been taking part in a sunflower growing competition against other schools in local area. The children have learned so much so far about gardening as they have observed their seeds germinating and sprouting. They’ve learned how to take care of their plant by regular watering and ensuring it is put in direct sunlight. They’ve even learned how to transplant a plant from a smaller pot to a larger pot. The kids have now taken their plants home and planted them in their gardens so very shortly their little project will be transformed into a beautiful flower!

A big thank you must be given to O Neills Flowers in Riverstown who is running this competition and supplied seeds, pots, compost and of course advice to each of the children free of charge.
